MY 5 TOP TIPS ON HOW TO TAKE BACK YOUR TIME

Have you ever said to yourself, I wish I had more time in the day to do all of the things I want to do? You can accomplish everything in your day with time blocking, and here are my five easy ways to take back your time.

#1 - EMBRACE TIME BLOCKING

  • Time blocking is the practice of planning out every moment of your day in advance and dedicating specific time "blocks" for certain tasks or responsibilities.

  • Studies have shown that time blocking improves your daily productivity by as much as 80%.

#2 - MONTHLY CALENDAR

  • Once you have embraced time blocking, it's time to take a look at your monthly calendar.

  • Write down all of your important dates for the current month such as birthdays, appointments, doctor's visits, school activities, sports, other activities and work schedules.

  • These are your glass balls, which means all of them are happening regardless if you have time for them or not.

#3 - WEEKLY CALENDAR

  • Take all of those monthly events and schedule them in either a weekly block layout or an hourly layout.

  • Once your glass balls are scheduled for the week, you may see some holes or open times in your week where you have nothing happening.

#4 - BUSINESS/HOUSE SCHEDULE

  • Now that your time is scheduled for the week, it's time to fill up those available blocks of time.

  • Schedule the time you plan on doing your house work or your personal business if you have one.

  • I like to pencil in house work and business hours everyday so tasks are done on a daily basis.

#5 - TIME FOR YOU

  • Once everything is all planned out and scheduled, it's time to schedule some time for YOU!

  • This could be a workout, a nap, or even a shopping day alone.

  • You are most important and scheduling time for yourself should be a priority!

Embracing time blocking in our daily routines has been a game changer. I can accomplish much more in a day and focus on the tasks at hand. Time blocking was embraced in our household back in 2007 when the twins arrived, and I couldn't imagine a day without it.
